Released: 01/22/2008

RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 22 -- The Real Cities Network further deepened its penetration in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh markets with the addition of three Calkins Media sites, it was announced today. A corporate partnership between the two companies brings PhillyBurbs.com, TimesOnline.com and HeraldStandard.com into the network.

The Real Cities Network consists of approximately 1,600 local news websites, reaching more than 38 million monthly unique visitors (Source: Nielsen//NetRatings, December 2007) and offering advertisers an easy outlet for one-stop national buys in lucrative local markets across the country.

PhillyBurbs.com is the largest of the three sites owned and operated by Calkins Media, reaching 346,000 monthly unique visitors (Source: Nielsen//NetRatings, December 2007). TimesOnline.com is home to two daily newspapers in Western Pennsylvania: the Beaver County Times in Beaver, Pa., and the Allegheny Times in Allegheny, Pa. HeraldStandard.com, located in Uniontown, Pa., is the website of the Herald Standard.

"The corporate partnership to bring Calkins Media sites into the Real Cities Network bodes well for advertisers trying to reach Western Pennsylvania and the greater Philadelphia area," said David Fitzpatrick, vice president of sales for Real Cities. "PhillyBurbs.com is one of the largest news sites in Philadelphia and provides a deeper penetration into one of the nation's largest metropolitan cities."

PhillyBurbs.com was awarded a 2007 Newspaper Excellence in Cyberspace Award by The Pennsylvania Newspaper Association (PNA) in the e-Commerce category for its automotive site in March. The site was also a finalist for Best Advertising Program (75,000 to 250,000 circulation) in the 2005 Digital Edge Awards presented by the Newspaper Association of America (NAA) for its local guides (http://guides.phillyburbs.com).

Earlier this year, Calkins Media joined The McClatchy Company as part of the Yahoo! Newspaper Consortium. The partnership with Real Cities allows the two newspaper companies to work even more closely together.

"PhillyBurbs and Calkins Media are proud to be affiliated with the Real Cities Network," said Bob Kellagher, director of business development for Calkins Media. "This is an online ad network that has long been recognized in the national advertising community as a leading solution for advertisers who seek to harness the targeting power of local media websites."

The Real Cities Network includes newspaper websites owned by Advance Internet, Belo Corp., Cox Newspapers, Inc., DotConnect Media, Hearst Corp., The McClatchy Company, Media General, MediaNews Group, Scripps and others.
